I bought my first Dennis Wick 5bs piece way back in high school, and it is still the main piece I use on my small bore. (even though I don't play the small bore much anymore) I absolutely love it, although the gold is wearing off so it looks like I will need to replace it soon, if I ever have another steady use for that horn.

My advice: Dennis Wick pieces are GREAT. Still, that's just my thought on them. Yours could be different. Go someplace that has a lot in stock and try as many as you can for as long as you can.

About a year ago one of the trombone players in my community band was using a Bach 4G megatone. I had a Wick 5BL that I stopped using because it was too small for me, so I let him try the Wick. He liked it so much that he bought it from me right away. That was about two years ago, and he's still using the Wick to this day, and is very glad that he switched.

The Wick mouthpieces seem to help the player get a nice clear sound, and they respond quickly. I don't know what's different about the Heritage series, though. However, for the past two years I've been set with all of my mouthpieces on all three of my horns, so I'm not interested in trying anything new anymore.

Almost everyone in our trombone studio uses dennis wick mouthpieces. I played on a 4g d/w for a tenor gig and loved it. They seem like a solid choice, especially for the $$$
