When I use a Bach 12c, (in my Bach Omega) I find that it helps me put out a great jazz sound, although it's a little on small side. I favor it over my Bach 5g when I play jazz because it gives me a brighter sound than the mouthpiece with the larger bore, the 5g.

STEVE WROTE:
I won't begrudge young players the time to explore equipment. I'm sure you're probably not on the same mouthpiece you started on when you first started are you? If you found what works for you, great! Let them do the same.

Actually, I went back to a simple King 6 1/2AL on my Trombone. When I started playing trombone 13 years ago (my sophomore year in High School) I started on a Bach 6 1/2AL. And on my euphonium I also now play on a mouthpiece with a similar rim and cup diameter as a 6 1/2AL (I started on a Benge 6 1/2AL on euphonium in 6th grade!). In college I played on the fairly large denis wick SM4M euphonium mouthpiece.

I decided that I just didn't want to have to work so dang hard when it came to endurance and range and switching back and forth.

To each his own!!!

Your right with the importance of the mouthpiece. Everyone always stresses the importance of the Edwards or the Shires but whats neglected? The right mouthpiece. I personally play on a Gold plated Schilke 51D and i love it, ever try the remmington model?

If you are referring to the Conn Remington mouthpice, yes! That is such a great piece. Huge, warm sound and very comfortable on the rim. From what I understand the one I have was made to fit older conn 8H and 88H horns with a much different lead-pipe taper than modern trombones. Hence, it doen't fit in my King 4B too well, but creates a tight enough seal for me to get a good idea of how it works. I am trying to sell it on ebay right now.
