Hi, I've been playing trombone for about 8 months and think my embrochure is incorrect, my top lip is slightly past my lower lip and pops out unlike my lower lip, can someone tell me if this is correct and if not describe what a correct embrochure looks/feels like?

It would be impossible to tell without seeing you play in person. Even if you sent us a video, it would still be near impossible to give you accurate help.
The best thing you can do, actually, the ONLY thing you can do is get a private teacher to check out your concern and help steer you in the right direction. Trust me, in the long run, it will be worth it. Do it.

It is difficult to correct specific embouchure problems online, and I alsao reccommend getting a private teacher.
I would not worry too much if your top lip is out farther, because it vibrates more. If your tone is compromised, there may be a problem, but I couldn't specify it.
With a good embouchure, the chin is flat, the bite even, and teeth a pencil's diameter apart. If you are sucking in your bottom lip to play higher notes, dont. Higher notes are played by pressing your lips together more firmly and increasing the air speed; I had a lot of trouble with that when I first started playing.
