Can anyone suggest any trombone mouthpieces to buy for beginners?

I work at a music store, we always rent our trombones out with a Bach 7c mouthpiece. it's the basic size. after the student has been playing for a few years, it's best to take them to the shop and let them try a few out to see what's most comfortable for them. by then they'll be able to hear and feel what works best for them and their musical styles.

7c? Really? I started on a 12c, and most beginning trombonists I see use that size as well.

I'd start a middle schooler on a 12C. High school or above, I'd probably start with a 7C. I too work in a music store, and our rentals come with 12C mouthpieces. But starting on a 7C isn't a bad choice either. I wouldn't even hesitate to start an older beginner on a 6.5AL if they were motivated enough.

Every one that says 12c or 7c you are assuming that it is a small bore trombone. If it is a large bore you need to start on a 6 1/2 or 5g if they are older.

Well, yeah, I am assuming a small bore horn. I would never start a beginner on anything bigger. Would you??? Seriously???

I'm in my second year of playing (yea, im beginning, i know) and my mouthpiece is 6/12 AL and and that's what I always started at, same with all the other trombones in my school excert for ones with triggers.
