I have been looking to buy a used trombone. I am currently playing a friend's horn, a Benge 175. I was considering making him an offer, but I've on Ebay looking as well. Can anyone compare the Benge to a Conn, Yamaha or Bach. The Benge is in very good condition. I would appreciate any advice.

I agree that the Benge is really good. I am a freshman in college and that is what I use. It's more open than the horn I used in high school was. But that was a Blessing.

I had a student play on a Benge for a while, it was his first horn. It sounded nice, and seemed to work fairly well at first, aside from a few little things, like a finicky water key and a tuning slide so loose it wouldn't stay in place, but it just didn't last. The craftsmanship just wasn't for long term use. It was nearly unplayable after about 2 years.

I'm not exactly sure. i thought it was a 175. i may be mistaken. but its way better than the blessing i used.

I was mistaken. The Benge I play is a 190f. Sorry for the confusion. But a very good horn if you can find one. Especially when paired with Schilke 51D mp. But thats my opinion on the mp.
