Yeah me neither. I played on a couple of Getzens back in the day, and I can honestly say I`m not ineterested in ever playing one again. As for the Conn, a friend of mine in college had an 88H CL and I tried it out several times, as I was in the market for a new horn. I don`t know why, but I wasn`t a big fan of it. It felt ok playing in the midrange and a comfortable mf, but as soon as it got louder (I`m a very loud, powerful player) it felt like it started breaking up, and the tone went downhill. Also, I didn`t much care for the Christian Lindberg valve. It just wasn`t all that comfortable, and the motion of it itself was just not quite right for some reason. So, It just wasn`t for me.

I started playing about 6 years ago with an Olds special Nice horn and plays very good. I just bought me an Olds standard from around 1930 and this one rocks.

Seriously man, if you have a Bach Stradivarius 42 series bone, you shouldn`t really complain about wanting a better instrument. There are probably very few that beat a Bach Strad, and none of em come to mind. Be happy with what you have.

I have a couple getzen horns from a few years back. Serial Number 69 and they play great. The bell is a little thin for my taste but I get a good dark sound from them so no complaints. Sorry some of you dont like them. There made on by the folks who make edwards. So basically there the equivelant of mercury to ford cars.

Actually, if you want to compare the Getzen folks making Edwards horns, it`s more like Volkswagon folks that own Porsche. Same company, no where near the same quality. Or... Ford to Jaquar.... Or Dodge to Mercedes... Or even more specific, The Ford Focus, (great for commuting, putting around, getting groceries, nothng fast and demanding....) to the new Ford GT, with it`s 500 hp... Pretty big difference from the same folks.

Porsche is not owned by Volkswagen. That is one of the things that is very important to the Porsche company. They are an independent company. The top Getzen horns are actually the exact same as the most popular model of the Edwards. They just don`t offer all of the fine tuning custom options for bells, leadpipes, slides, etc. that the Edwards company offers.
