There have been books writen on trombone range methods. the pitch/overtone you are in is determind by how fast the air moves through the moputhpiece with the added buzzing of your lips. Try this buzz your lips into a mouthpiece and aim the air straight down the mouthpiece this produces a lower tone now tilt the mouthpiece so the air bounces off the cup befor it gows down aond out of the mouth piece dont chang how much buzz but the pitch changes. the closer you blow th the rim of the cup the more times the air bounces around the cup the higher pitch you will have. (by tilting your horn so your nose gets closer to the mp this acomplishes the same thing. GOOD TIP) be careful doing the tilt thing that you dont put to much preshure on the top lip.

then there is the straight down the pipe method. This is what alot of pros do. play down the pipe and ajust the speed of your lip buzz. this in my opinion is the best way to go when it comes to sound but it takes a lot more work.

I played trombone for 5 years, got pretty good, then quit for 5 years. I am picking it up again. I can remember the b flat scale and a few warm ups, what not to do, and that`s about it, lol. I need advice on resources to relearn reading the bass cleff and slide positions for notes besides the 8 notes in the b flat scale. Any tips would be welcome! TY
