I have a conn 88hto, a conn 5g mouthpiece which i absolutely despise. Cant hit a high note to save my life on it. Then I have a King 606. I use it to play jazz with on a bach 12c mouthpiece. The Conn mouthpieces are definitely not good. Not the Lindberg and all the other fancy ones, never tried those, but just the plain old conn mouthpieces. They suck quite frankly.

I play a Yamaha James Morrison 15th anniversary model. tenor-bass, or in other words, with an F attachment, which is nice but totally outdone by an edwards. i have played an edwards owned by my teacher and WOW!!! such beautiful tone, such ease. the range that still sounds nice, even coming from me (cos im not that great with the higher notes above Bb 3 ledger lines up or most of the pedal range) GO EDWARDS.

these days i play mainly jazz and own 2 Bach 12 - i play on the older one - based on the serial number and shape of the crook, we think it`s made in elkhart from mt. vernon parts. i bought it from a retired bone player years ago in l.a. - it`s great horn and they`ll have to pry it from my cold dead hands

for classical, light stuff like opera and musicals, i play on a wonderful old Conn 88H Elkhart with either a Doug Elliot or 5G

my last job i had a brand new Edwards for 1.5 years - pretty nice ! - good for loud and heavy.

i kind of gave up on my 42b years ago - i think it just had been through too much

now i`m looking for a nice bach 36 or something medium large. anyone know where to get one?

Conn 88h for legit
King 3b w/F attachment for jazz

I`ve been wanting to trade the 3bF for a 2b but I haven`t found any takers.

I used to use a Dennis Wick 4AL on the 88h and a Wick 5BS on the King. After a long hiatus from playing I`m not strong enough for the big 4AL and I don`t have the air to do it justice. I`ll probably move to smaller Wicks since I like that brand of mouthpiece best.

i play 4 year old Getzen Custom Series with the F-attachment for wind ensemble, and a 1970s Getzen silver-plated lead bone in jazz. I love `em.
