Yamaha, Conn, Getzen, Bach. They are the standard pro models. Then you get custom horns, like Rath, Schmelzer, Shires, and Edwards. The custom horns will be better, generally, but will also cost more. Be careful with Bachs. Most are of poor quality and they are very inconsistent from horn to horn, but if you test play a good one and you like it, you might have gotten lucky. Some of them are very good. The other companies are a bit more consistent, and Yamaha is very consistent. Play a lot of horns, and don`t listen to anyone who tells you you should get a horn from one company over any other companies. Get what plays best for you, and what sounds best.
Good luck.

my advice would be a conn....my high school has one and it may have been bought in the late 80`s/earily 90`s and it is in like perfect condition no dents in the slide, very few in the bell, so on...but it plays perfect it double rotor, but go with what ever you would like, but if it was me, i would read up on every bass bone and then i would make a choice from there, but look into Conns, there really good dependable, verstial, so on, but go with what ever you would like...

take everyones suggestions. but remember to TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT. i could sit here and type out what i think would be good for you blah blah. BUT the only way your going to find a good horn is to try everything out there.
to throw this in i say start with getzen. They make consistent horns and they are moderatly priced. Start there and then move on. thats what i tell people
