Visited your site, Caroline, and you really have a great attitude. The "band geek" expression goes back a long time and it`s interesting that people still look at band musicians that way. The word "geek" is a reltively negative expression and I`m sure you use it in the best humor possible. I personally feel quite opposite in that to play music is a wonderful thing and that, if anything, being in band is a very positive and beautiful thing. Don`t want to ramble here, but keep that positive attitude. And when you and any other young women on this board raise that horn to your lips, be proud and beautiful for you are all that way!

I`m one of them. There are now 2 girls in the trombone studio at my school.
Girls have been playing trombone for a long time. I`m researching the topic, and there were nuns back in like 1500 that played trombone and other instruemnts. (Search for nuns of San Vito if you wish to read more about them).

At one time when I was a major at SJSU, there was 4 trombone chicks. They were all pretty good, and all hot.

I find that most female trombone players are rather gunshy about playing solos. Haven`t met any females yet that just belt it out. But I`m sure they must be out ther.

Let me tell you about this one chick! Befor i do there are few things better than watchinh a chick do it by her self.
I was at a contest last year and heard a girl from washington state play a kick ass solo. She was loud great tone and could really play.(not alot of range though just an f maby a g) but is wa awasom like 48 measures, I knew the piece and arangement half of the solo is writen but the other half is improv and she was great in both.
Go tbone chicks. Never forget bone players do it in 7 positions.

Oh, I know. The boner jokes (and others) never end... Ok, maybe when you beat the joke-maker out for 1st chair, but aside from that they`re never-ending.
