im curently in the market for 2 new horns. I am replacing a getzin 1047f I think is the moddle.(large bore f attachment open wrap) and a lead horn (conn custom)that i use for jazz work. I think i have found the jazz lead horn 3b silversonic. I was thinking the Shires would work to replace the getzin. (by the way never ship a tbone via ups, unless you want them to buy you a new one) Primarily using it for symphonic work, maby ill use it in a college concert band as well.
thank you and, well i think im going to go sleep with the neighbors wife.

I really like the old school King 2B and 3B. My lead jazz horn is a 2B that I actually got off of eBay... and it was shipped UPS... haha.

As for symphonic playing, here in Texas, I`ve noticed that everyone here plays only on Edwards or on Bach trombones. Nobody here plays on Shires or Rath... not even the players in the Houston Symphony Orchestra. I`m the only trombone music major at the University of Houston that plays on a horn that is not Edwards or Bach. I play on a Besson 944. Anyway, I would like to try out some other brands of trombones later, but this trombone is great for me.

Good luck in finding a horn you like.

the thing about shires bones is that they are customized FOR YOU, just like edwards. I recently went to michigan and had my Edwards tenor built to how i play and i couldnt be happier. So before finding someone who has a horn put together you might wanna look into trying to get things on your bone that you like and will benefit from.
