This is going to sound like a really stupid question, which it probably is, but how am I supposed to tongue? I`ve been separating the notes with my lips for about 5 years, and I have a lot of trouble with groups of 16th notes.

Believe it or not, I had this problem for the first year I played trombone. It`s hard for me to communicate exactly how to, "tongue" seeing as it`s pretty natural for most people. Right now, without a trombone or mouthpiece, just flap your lips. Now, do with your tongue what you would do if you were to say, "ta" without actually saying it. Try to see if you can separate the sound by doing this.

here is what you do....get a boy friend who plays bone and who has for a couple years. then tell him you need help he will teach you really well.

Really though to get a quick accurate tounge fork over the 50 ish dollars for a couple lessons and tell the teacher you want to work on your tounging. good luck.

Almost forgot you could just ask your band director what he/she thinks.
