Thanks,

I`ve just started using cream... I haven`t found any cons (yet) except that it`s sort of a pain to have to squirt the slide with water every time you play. Other than that, it works good.

I use SuperSlick Slide Cream. Way better than the usual slide oils like FAST and those other things. When you apply the cream right, it rarely sounds scratchy like when you dont have enough oil on. Cream has the definite advantages, although if you are looking for a 1 second application go with oil, but cream is definitely better, especially SuperSlick.

I PREFER TO USE CREAM ... THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IT GETS THICK; AND ITS HARD TO MOVE THE SLIDE.

I prefer cream, i ve been using it for 7 years, its good if your not in a rush. If you do use it you have to get the right amount or else it gets thik and and you have to wipe down the slide and stuff like that

I lile slidomix but i have used tbonetine and it is really fast, if you know how to apply it. I believe slidomix has teflon in it so it is not really a cream or an oil. one part preps the slide (little bottle) so that the teflon (big bottle) will stick to it. At least that is what the sales guy told me. And since both inner and outer slide get coated with prep and teflon it is way fast.
Btw I noticed that somone said there is almost no scratchy sound with creme. Um you might want your slide looked at. there should be no sound coming from your slide when you play. infact if your not playing and you slide your slide up and down a few times all you should hear is air rushing in and out of your horn.

Seriously, try out some Slide-o-mix. Its made out of Germany, but can pick it up on many websites or almost any decent horn shop. The stuff comes with two bottles, one to prep the slide, the other to create a very slick lubricant. I used some of it on the horns of the little kids I teach and they all yelled at me because their slides kept falling off >.<
Pros:
-Fast acting, one application will last for months with a spray bottle of water on hand.
-Takes only a few drops to activate.
-Easially obtainable.
-No friction whatsoever.
-Comes in two varieties for tight slides and loose slides.
-Favor of the West coast :P
Cons:
-2 different bottles.
-Slide must be free of ALL other brands of slide cream/oil for this to work.
-Required water to be slick (well, that replaces constant oil application so its not really a con)
-A bottle set can cost anywhere from $10-15
-Highly addicting!
Anyways, i hope you give thiss tuff a shot, its a wonderful product.

I started playing tbone in the 50`s and used oil at first then went to cold cream then back to oil in the seventies then in the 90`s started using the modern creams. Definitely creams are better for me. I use the cream thet came with my bach strad and trombotine. Not together, of course. The thing to remember is a tiny dab will do and slightly more is way too much.

I was always using Slide-o-Mix and it worked very fine for me. Besides it`s a bit expensive, it cleans out your slide very well. I just went over using Rexa Superslide. It`s just something like Slide-o-Mix but it`s just one bottle and way cheaper.
Good luck

Slide-o-Mix, as well as any grease, requires a spray bottle of water. Much better than oil though. You really should try a bunch of different stuff in order to find what works best for you. I rely on SuperSlick, and I know people that hate it and rely on something like Trombotine, which for some reason I can`t stand.
I tried everything I could find before I really settled on SuperSlick, and everyone should do the same.
