dude the best things are : if you want it to slide good but doesn`t have to be extremely fast use vaseline; if you want something that slides good and fast use rubbing alchohol but try to wipe it off afterwards.

I have an Olds Recording and play every day.
Slide O Mix seems to work on this trombone quite well, but I clean the slide each time before I re-apply.
It is expensive, but so far, I am impressed.

Dude, james, PLEASE do not use vaseline or rubbing alcohol. Again, folks, they make things specifically for our instrument. These things work perfectly, better than Ponds Cold Cream, better then Pledge, better than Vaseline, better then rubbing alcohol. Use the right thing.
To me, it`s like saying, "I used to use gas in my car, but I found that Bacardi 151 works the same, so I use it."

Possibly. With cream you only use a tiny bit. Put it on about 3-5 inches from the ends of the inner slides, less then a finger tip worth. Then you need to also use a spray bottle. I haven`t found anything better than that.
