Hi,
My 7th grader is getting pretty good and seems to be really taking to the trombone. We are looking at new horns that would be a step up from a student model (his current trombone we bought used and has seen better days) and are seeking guidance.

1. Should we get one with the F trigger? How much would he use this?
2. Any suggestions? The Yamaha trombones seem nice for the money. We have looked at the YSL-446G and 445G. Bach and Getzen have also been suggested.

We`ve also asked his band director for suggestions.

Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

-Wayne

I have a Yamaha F attatchment and it works GREAT. I love the tone quality and the trigger makes it so much easier to reach those notes in 6 and 7th position. Just make sure to take really good care of it and don`t set the bell on any chairs (My horn got dented pretty bad when it got knocked over by someone walking by)and keep it clean by giving it a bath every week or so. Also, the trigger uses rotor oil (like on french horns) and my horn didn`t come with any, so you might want to get some of that since slide oil works crappy (Slide oil is thinner). Good luck!
