I have a Holton collegiate now, I played in school and got away from the trombone for like 15 years, but I`ve been playing again. I bought a Blessing B88R with F attachment, but it was just TOO HEAVY. Didn`t like the spring thing at the top of the slide either. So, I returned it and got a Blessing B88, no rose bell, no F attachment. Again, too heavy. By the way, I play a lot standing up. So, anyway, what is a good next-step-up-horn I could buy that is not really heavy, will give me some more boom and will handle well, like my collegiate? (which I`ve been very happy with, by the way)

If you are looking for a horn with good snap then i suggest a King 3b+. by the soudns of it you like to play a bigger horn and this horn is a good horn (.525 bore) This horn can play Amazingly at low volumes and in a classical setting then turn around and kill the sax player in front of you in jazz band. But then again this is my personal preference.

My suggestion like it ALWAYS is when there is a question like this is. Go to a music store and try all the bones there and see what sounds the best on you.

Thanks, I`ll do just that. I don`t necessarily want a bigger horn, I want one that weighs about the same, but is better quality, and when the piece calls for it can play soft or loud, without any difficulty.

You also might want to look at the lighter slides. I have seen "fast" slides on kings that are light weight, and I really love them. the 2b which for you id not recomend has a model the jiggs wingham model i think it is with the "fast" slide. You can get it as an option for the 3b but i dont think there is a model name for it, then again i could be mistaken. Oh btw if this is a little incoherent i havnt had my coffe yet today.
