i dont know what the loudest non amplified instrument is. i just know that trombone isnt the loudest. i mean come on are you trying to tell me that a trombone is louder than a snare drum? Or a Lead trumpet player for that matter. hell what about the giant box drum thingy they use in a Mahler symphonies?
never said i knew what the loudest non amped instrument was.
sooo critical.

the loudest non amplified instrument????? how bout that gong they play in those budest temples or the bells in mt st micheall. so eliminating percussive instruments cause banging stuff isnt music(just jokin sorry percussion) then you can get rid of trumpets cause they are high pitched not lous. shrill and quiet is piercing not loud so you can get rid of them too. what about reed instruments....do we really consider them instruments or just holy metal? so that leaves the flutes tubas and bones. Since tubas are notorius for intonation problems we will put them in the "not considered" group. I guess what does that leave still? Flute??? like that is loud i meen come on.... so all that considered then YES TBONE IS THE LOUDEST INSTRUMENT.
The player has nothing to do with it by the way. If you buy a loud bone then you play loud if you by a quiet one then you play quiet. I have 3 horns i use when playing Bolero cause i need the at least three volumes for it. dynamics is totaly performed by changing horns.
COME ON PEOPLE

You are joking, right? The player has nothing to do with it? That`s one of the most obsurd things I have ever heard. If you can`t control any specific horn at all of the dynamic ranges, then you need to work on that. You should NEVER have to switch horns for dynamic issues. That is just totally crazy.
As for the loudest instrument, yeah, the trombone is considered louder than the lead trumpet, but by no means louder than the percussion. Whether or not you consider them as real "musical" instruments, they are still louder. So there yeah go. (I`m guessing the "tubas have intonaton problems" comment was a joke, so I won`t go there.)
Another thing for the loud list while we are there. Would you consider the pipe/church organ amplified? Definately not electrically, but there is assistance. And the big ones are MUCH louder than we are.
Oh, and Melophone? Um........ (invalid) hahaha

Of course i was joking. I was trying to use scarcasim to say that.....It is not necesserily the horn but the player. (i think i need to learn to spell)
there are instruments that seem to be louder than others but generally it is the player no the instrument.

well, just 2 tell u, i ment 2 type in, of all wind instruments
but if u think about, a piccolo (small flute) is almost as loud
my music teacher, man can he play t_bone
my frends made the sad mistake of askin our teacher to blast our ears out
he did, and i cooldnt hear 4 a day
but wat i mean is, a guitar dat uses an amp can be louder,so i`m talkin bout a non-amped instrument
