i try not to think about mouthpiece pressure or anything like that normally. Except once, i had a mouthpiece (shilke) that had a thin lip that was just a bit too sharp. i immediatly decided it wasnt worth the piece so i found a piece that was more comfortable. You may want to look into that. i dunno because i dont play trumpet.

Former trumpet player....Always played bone....
Anyway I once saw a demonstration where a guy hung his trumpet via fishing line from a 20 foot celing walked up to it and with out touching it with his hands played 3 octives of overtones.
That is what I call no preshure. So It has always been my understanding that less preshure is better and if it hurts then you need to stop. I find that i can play higher and longer with less preshure anyway.

when i`m lazy, i just put a lot of pressure and blow. when i`m not lazy, i hold the enbrochure and blow with less pressure. the first way just wares the crap out of you, so try developing a stronger embrochure.
