Compared to wind and other brass instruments, Trombone doesn`t have that many solos that makes the instrument shine...but the few solo pieces that features a trombone, it usually is a great piece..

What are your favorite Trombone Pieces??

Mine would be...Concerto for Trombone and Military band by Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov.

I`m a big fan of the Gordon Jacob Concerto, the Grondahl Concert, the Guilmant Morceau Symphonique, the Hindemith Sonate, and the Goldstein Colloquy.

My favorites are the Hindemith, and the Crespo Improvisation for Trombone #1. Blue Bells of Scotland by Pryor is fun, but I doubt I would ever play it for a concert setting.

The Bach Cello Suites, although not really for trombone, are LOTS of fun to play, and they sound awesome.

If you can`t find it in your local music store, see if they can order it. If they can`t, which sometimes they just can`t, try:

Pretty much everything, minus a few rather unknown pieces, I have looked for or needed I have been able to find here.

hmm. in my band, the people who practice the most are the bass instruments, so we get a lot of good parts. no doubt, the trombones have to share the part with the baritone and i (bassoon) but it`s better that way. lol. and our band dirctor is a trombonist.. lol.
