About a month ago my friend was searching for a horn player for his ska band. I volunteered, not realizing that I hadnt actually held a trombone in about four years. Anyway, I was wondering about converting the figuring positions forom the number system(1,2,3,4 ect.) to chords. Is there a fixed not that is sounded at each position of the slide or does it vary with the force that I blow through the mouth piece?

Um, no. You have to figure in the partials. I think that is what you are asking.

you may want to spend some time on the basics to get that horn going again.
