I`m thinking of getting into one of these. I have read some of the beginner questions here already. I have one for you. Please don`t pick on me OK What`s the differece between the two. Big things, how they play, what they look like and so on.
Thanks
Mike

They are the same instrument, actually.
It`s just different styles of playing. Sometimes you`ll find an old-timey home made fiddle thats a little bigger than the standard, but you can play fiddle style on any violin.

I`ve seen lots of fiddlers recently... and not found that fiddlers are any larger than a violin. They are really the same instrument. Fiddlers (especially those that play "old time" fiddle tunes) often want their bridge a little flatter so that double stops (two strings at a time) are easier.
Learn fiddle! You`ll love it.. and have much fun playing music all over the world!
