I play the guitar and piano in an experimental/art band we are trying to add new textures for our next record. I am looking to learn how to play the violin, and I need to know what brands are relatively cheap, but still have a nice sound and play well. Any suggestions??

Where`s the scroll in those pictures, it could be damaged for all I know? Those pictures are too dark and kind of blury. But anyway, it looks O.K. to buy, I mean I would rather play a new violin or what ever in person if it`s new. Personally, I wouldn`t purchace an instrument off of ebay that war over $500, onless it was an antique, but people do anyways. Can you believe that people actually try to sell violins for $100,000 to $1,000,000, HA, like they will ever sell them. If I was you, I wouldn`t put a reserve price on it like "reserve not yet met", but a starting price of $1000 or something so people won`t underbid. It`s stupid if someone constantly bids 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 when you really want $1500 for it. :-)

Wait a second, I noticed that you live in Lawrenceville, Ga. You have thousands of people living all around you that could easily buy it from kids entering middle school strings class and being in high school strings class. If you don`t sell it off of ebay, then theres places like Atlanta Strings And Winds that can sell it for you.

Well terms of sale would be $500 deposit.
1 week trial, if u want to keep, then the rest is to be paid.
If not, ship it back.
There is no damage to the instrument, sorry i dont have a decent digi cam
Im looking for $1100-$1200 for it. I have been to ATL strings.
They no longer sell instruments for ppl, and advised me to sell online.
Market just isnt good enough for them to do it right now.

I have been playing for 10yrs or so (can`t seem to keep track) and from trying different instrument and teaching, I would not suggest a student or practice violin, in my experience they have terrible sound. Used, professional, instruments are wonderful, as long as they are in good condition, no cracks, etc. Plus they are already broken in, which can make learning much less difficult.

I have a like-new Romanian Violin. I bought it 6 months ago, and now it`s still in very good condition. It`s a Leon Aubert Violin, Model 808, everything is good, bow, rosin, good quality case, shoulder rest, and come along with some good books of Yamaha and Bedwig . I`m a senior high school going to college, so i try to make some money, i hope to sell this violin asap. I only ask for $420.00+ Shipping n Handling, we might discuss more. Thank you very much for looking. Contact me this email or 909-789-4122 at anytime, and my name is Phi, it pronounces like "fee" . Have a nice day and God bless!

if you are just starting and dont think you will b playing 4 a long time, rent one. they are often good quality and it is alot cheaper. i rend my violin 4 $150 per year. it is a very good vioin and if anything happens 2 it like i need a new bow or new strings the guy i rent it off of pays 4 it.
so explore all of your options b4 buying a violin that you`ll use for only a few years. and if you dont like it you can always just bring it back 2 the owner.

That`s one way of looking at it (is there any chaance of you writing in proper English? Some of us here are adults). Another way of looking at it is that all rental money is dead money.

It`s nothing to do with your age, Samantha. These sort of text message style abbreviations are completely unnecessary in serious internet forums which this is supposed to be and you will find they irritate most adults. They don`t do you any good either because they just scream "high school kid" and mean you will not be taken seriously.
