Let`s see, the kind of person I am:

- Can hear the differences between pitches;
- knows the physics of sound frequencies and how it applies to music;
- can see the big picture that what can be perceived as a `short cut` often becomes a crutch to those who try to grow their skills but are limited by their bad habits. You can learn this now or learn this later, but you will inevitably learn it.

Ah, I see. That was your goal. Now I understand. I thought you were using this was a venue to exchange informed opinions but that is obviously not the case. Well, have fun and good luck. You will need it.

R dont cry ValV! lol
you cant kick a dog and not expect to get bitten!lol

"There`s no point to playing if you are out of tune. If you are incapable of learning without frets, then stick to the guitar"

which one of us is really trying to use this as a venue to exchange informed opinions?

K.O - AGAIN!!!

Sanzenkoan,

I feel I must agree with Valv here. The method in which you post suggests to us that you`re most likely still in junior high/high school, and it`s obvious that you`re still pretty new to the instrument. That`s fine - so are most of us - but we`re trying to learn to play well and to play correctly, not by taking shortcuts that will hinder our progress later or by mutilating our instruments. If you want adults to take you seriously, start acting (and posting) like an adult. A message board is not an instant messaging program.

For your information im 25!lol
learnt to play just over two year ago!
and i dont know where you get the idea that im in junior high/high school!
i wish i still was!lmao
i was suggesting the method of using frets to someone who can not find the notes at all!
and theres nothing wrong with taking short cuts if itll get you to were your going - it certainly wont hinder your progress - as once you can play correcting your mistakes is just a matter of understanding what your doing wrong - its the same with any instrument - once you know what your doing it isnt as hard to learn to do it properly!

and as for this belittleing comment

"If you want adults to take you seriously, start acting (and posting) like an adult. A message board is not an instant messaging program."

im giving someone asking for help my honest opinion and advice to aid them in there development as a violinist - you are giving them yours - surely an adult would recognise that without feeling the need to insult and attempt to belittle someone with a different opinion to there own!
I can play well - i just cant improvise?
my way is my way - your way is yours! its up to the individual whos adviec they take!

You know, if not for "sanzenkoan", we might actually have had an interesting discussion comparing fretted and unfretted instruments. That`s at least one troll the new registration requirement did not manage to filter out.

scotch:
"sanzankoan is a clown. If you want a fretted- violin-like instrument, you should take up the viol."

not when your speaking to people like this!

scotch:
"if not for "sanzenkoan", we might actually have had an interesting discussion comparing fretted and unfretted instruments"

how could anyone possibly oppose your opinion without being insulted? a discussion requires different opinions!

S: The "we" in my penultimate posting did and does not include YOU. I should have thought that obvious. An interesting discussion with YOU is manifestly out of the question, for YOU yourself are the TROLL. Got it? Now hie thee hence.

Sanzokean, we would be willing to entertain the idea that you are indeed NOT a troll if you would follow the basic message board etiquette. For instance, typing all in caps means that you`re shouting - don`t shout at people. Insulting people for not agreeing with you is rude and doesn`t make their argument invalid - as being a possible troll doesn`t make your argument invalid, but no one will want to read it.

And please look up the differnce between your/you`re and there/their/they`re.

Perhaps you should think next time before you call a doctor an idiot. And you just proved my point - you seem incapable of seperating a person from their argument. Just because someone disagrees with you and gives you some (obviously needed) advice does not make them an idiot with no job, family, or computer skills.
