should i get a new bridge or does this one need adjusted some how? the E string is laying on the neck and sounds pretty crappy I think it needs raised up is there a way of doing this? if not what kind of bridge should i get thank you

Yes Frank, you`ll need a new bridge - I hope that is the only problem. You could try getting an adjustable one which you can fit yourself.

Did your violin always have the e string "on the neck"? If not, then something has changed. Either the soundpost fell and hte top is sagging, or the neck anlge is changing--perhaps a warped fingerboard.

You should be able to get a new bridge cut and the fingerboard looked after as well, for under $100
