Hi, there are long silver marks running along my fingerboard from the strings. How can you prevent/get rid of them, or is it the make of string (I use Dominants) or fingerboard that matters? Thanks.

when you resin your bow, As you play you may not always be in between the bridge and fingerboard, simply wipe away those marks if the are resin related.

The silver marks are from you sliding and vibrating on the finger board, you`ll notice that the strings your playing on the most will have more marks then say the e-string. You can simply wipe it off, i use a brazil nut to clean my violin and that seems to do the trick.

i have it too! i use dominant also. however, my friend who use Tonica doesn`t seem to have this problem? Is it due to the quality of the strings or it is the playing?

Dominants are aluminum wound "d" and "a" unless you request a siver "d".

Aluminum is a soft metal. It has nothing to do with quality of the strings.
