Hi. For some reason, whenever I put my shoulder rest on and I play my G string, it sounds.. corrupted. I know it's not my violin or the string, because when I take my shoulder rest off, it sounds perfectly fine. This did used to happen, but not as much as it is happening now.. I've been getting very aggrivated with this and am considering giving up shoulder rests completely [considering I can still hold the violin very well without a shoulder rest, it's just not as comfortable].
Has anyone else ever had this same problem? If so, how did you deal with it? Did you figure out what the problem with the shoulder rest was? I'm thinking about getting a new shoulder rest completely, but I'm afraid I'll just be wasting money and that that shoulder rest will not work well either.
Thanks for the help.

You helped me SOO much the other day I thought I could give some advise. I've never used a shoulder rest in my life because it makes the violin rub on my chin/neck really bad and gives me blisters but my friend hhad one that did that 2 years ago and she went without it for a while and then took it to a shop to see why it did that and they said it could be that the shoulder rest isn't in the right spot, the amount of pressure on the shoulder rest, or the way ur holding it with the shoulder rest on...try adjesting it on ur violin and then adjust the way u hold it a lil bit...see what happens
