Well, I am done meddling around on my mother's old violin. I want a teacher. I have found about three possible choices. I just don't know what I should be looking for in a teacher. I don't want someone with bad habits teaching me the same bad habits. Should I ask for credentials? What makes a good teacher?

Does anyone have of a teacher in Jacksonville, Florida they would reccomend?

Hi! Why don't you ask the teachers if you can do a trial? So that you can sort of see how the teacher would be. I think that everyone has different expectations for their teachers but I want a teacher who is going to be strict but no too mean s that they don't scare you away. You should also let the teacher see what you can do so that he/she knows what to work with. Oh, and you should most importantly make sure that the teacher will actually be able to teach you something you don't know.

I would say do a few lessons with them and then you can pick one..... If you are younger i would go for someone not to much older... You will get along with them better... my music teacher is 13 years older than me and we get along well.... I am 15.....
Hope that helps....
