Hi would like to ask everyones opinion on this. Last sunday, my teacher suggested that I get my violin repaired. Although its not broken, whats gonna happen is that the violin maker will take off the tint of my violin(my violins color is red) and replace it with varnish so it will come out naturally. Also the fingerboard will be adjusted to the standard size and also, how do i describe this, she said the finger board should be high against the body, high enough for your fingers to fit under it. I hope i get the description well. Also the cost of the repair will be the same as buying a new violin with i think a better brand or something.

So anyone who can comment on this. My teacher said that if i get it repaired the quality of the sound that my violin will produce will get better becuase its like the tint of the violin somewhat hinders the violin to vibrate or something. When I asked her about buying a new one she said that it would still be the same and also she said that the older the violin the better, thats why antique types of violin are expensive because the wood of the violin improves over the time.

so anyone please?

Hola, i would say that it all depends on how old your violin is but if you do end up getting it repaired, then you will have to get used to the changes. if you get a newer violin, though, then i would suggest getting an older one.
