Hi,

I'm new to all of this and have started the violin as an 'adult'. I love it and it is soooooooo much fun

I have only had two lessons so far but am contemplating upgrading my violin already The violin i originally bought is nice, but was a £50 experiment to see if i liked the violin - which i do and plan on playing forever.

I went to a music store and tried 3 violins.

Stentor II - didn't like at all
Zeller - which was nice
Hidersine Piacenza - I loved it and it had a one piece back, does that matter

However i have heard great things about Gligas. Ideally i would like the Gems2 but my budget will not stretch that far, so it would be a Genial 1.

Any thoughts on the above violins or any other recommendations. I'm in the UK.

thanks
em

I've never heard of the Hidersine. The Gliga outplays the Zeller any day. One piece back is purely a matter of cosmetics. Hope that helps.

In fairness I have to say it is really too soon to be upgrading. Whatever you play right now, you are going to sound pretty awful. Better to wait a few months until you are making a decent sound and upgrade then, when you begin to feel limited by your present violin.
