Okay...
so I was playing my violin and I ran into a wall.
My violin still plays okay and all, but i seam to have worn away the finish or something because there is a discolored area thats about 2 cms long were i ran the violin into the wall.
Is there a way to fix this?
Can my local music shop refinish the small area?

First and very important question: how the heck did you manage to run into a wall?
is the mark in the back of the violin or the front? or is it on the side. if its on the back, i wouldn't bother fixing it as if you are playing for someone they won't see it anyway so there would be no need to fix it up.
your shop probably won't be able to refinish it unless they are a proper violin shop that makes violins (a luthier so you would probably have to send it back to the manufacterer.
Personally i wouldn't bother unless you are worried about resale value later on. if you are not then the mark is just something that gives your violin a bit of personality. it would make an interesting story.
and in future watch out for any walls running in your direction, they can be awful things.
hope your playing is going well and if there is nothing really wrong with the violin enjoy playing it.

If the violin is facing you, its on the right side, se when you are playing, people can see it.

(why i was running isn't important... more like embarassing)
