Anything up to gama 2, on ebay (and that`s not me selling it, I`m assuming you`re in the US and if so you`ll get a slightly better price from the US dealer). I am a post grade 8 player (admittedly rusty) and I find a Gama 2 entirely adequate for my needs.

Yes, that`s the one I would buy if I were you. That price is only for the violin though, you will need a bow and case, which is going to take you slightly over $600 (how much over depends on the quality of the bow). Another option would be a Gems 1 with a case and a good bow.
Why not mail me off list? this is getting rather commercial even though it`s not my stuff I`m selling you
