Hi everyone -
I was recently robbed and my violin was stolen from me. I managed to save enough money to buy one from a third party - but it had been sitting in it's case for a very long time and has a terrible odor to it. It's hard to play because it really stinks!!! Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get rid of the smell? I can't afford a new case right now, but that is my intention once I can. I'd appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!
Tammy

Contact a fire restoration company.
There are companies that help clean your house after a fire and they use "ionizers' to change the molecularness of the odor causing feind. Many of them have boxes they could put your violin in to rid it of the smells.
One of my instruments was in a fire recently and the process did wonders !!!!
