hello everyone, i've been playing violin for about a month & am really enjoying it. I bought a stentor student beginner instrument as it was & is all i can afford at the moment. I'm just a little worried about it's intonation.

I'm not wanting to buy a decent instrument in the future and find that my pitches are all out when I'm used to compensating for a badly intonated instrument at the moment. Violin is not my first instrument, so with a little previously honed knowledge I have been able to correct the intonation slightly by angling the bridge so at one side it is correctly in center of the f hole with the other side off center. (not great I know ). Is there anything more I or an experianced technician could do to correct the bad intonation? I guess there is no violin intonation adjustable bridge out there?

Thanks

This might not be what your looking for but perhaps you could pratice some scales and to try making it sound better playing slowly or rosin the bow or maybe your bow has to much rosin. Perhaps just maybe try different strings. If you've just started violin also you're more than likely not going to sound like you want to. Hope this help

heya

If its a new violin the strings will constantly be slipping out of tune, but dont fret, the more you play it the more the strings will settle and you wont need to tune it as often.

But for the first couple of weeks you will have to continously tune it, You could try taking the tuning pegs out and putting chalk on them so they wont slip so easily.

Hope this helps x
