There is another post on the fourms regarding Gliga Violins. As to your request, how would you define "intermediate"? Do you have a scoreing system (eg. RMC gr. 7) or somthing else that would help define "intermediate"?

typo

"RCM Gr. 7", not "RMC"

Good job. Well, those violins would suit your play skill very nicely. Also, since you are on a limited budget, gliga would be the way to go.

Cheers

Hi Kristin,

Gems are noticeably better than Genial but a Genial would be more than adequate for you at this stage and for some time to come.

Kristin, what are you playing now? What sort of violin?

Gems 1 differs from Gems 2 only in the amount of flaming and the type of strings. I always recommend people to have a Gems 2 with dominant strings rather than a Gems 1 with the strings it comes with. You may have to get the dominants yourself and put them on but it will be worth it.

Just decide on the type you want and then pick the one you like the look of best, antiqued varnish and so on has no effect at all on the tone.

the one I have no is really crapy. It was a $40 beginner and starting to shows signs of how bad it really is after about 4 months.
