I have been teaching myself to play the 5-string violin for a few months now. I absolutely love this band named Hurt, which is an 'Art Rock' band. The lead singer, J Loren, plays the 5-string violin and i have been endeavoring to play as much of his work as i can. I have tabbed out one piece so far, and am getting bored of practicing that single piece, so i have moved on to another song named "Danse Russe".

I was wondering if any more experienced violin players out there could take a look at a few live videos on youtube or something and put my mind at ease about the tuning he uses. Because the guitars are tuned down a half-step, i assumed that the violin was the same. But i think the violin may be tuned down a full step, or 'Cajun' tuning (which i assume on a 5-string would be Bb,F,C,G,D). I think this because he manages to pull of an F octave double-stop at the beginning in what looks like first position. Can anybody let me know if i'm right. Thanks

A 5-string violin. Tuned down one whole step (B-flat, F, C, G, D). Play like you would play in C minor; the song is in B-flat minor.
That's my guess.
