I`ve just been trying out new bows in the £500+ price range, I think I`ve found one I like. It`s a German bow circa 1920 with Dodd stamped on the frog. I thought Dodd was a British bow maker. Anyway, it`s valued at £850 and my teacher will sell it to me (it`s her spare bow) for £650. Do you think I should get it? Any info on Dodd bows would be nice just for background`s sake.
Thanks.

I`ve never heard of Dodd bows before.

About the bow: If you feel it is a good weight for you to play with (some players prefer light bows, some heavy), and you`ve played it on your own insturment, then you should get it. On my violin, a Codabow Original (1000 USD) sounds much better than a Expensive, good Arcus bow (2000 + USD). Its a matter of your violins personality. If you feel you are getting the type of sound quality and volume you would like, then yes, pruchase the bow :D.

Thanks! :D I`ve played with it for a week now and it`s very light, which is great because my old bow was too heavy to do a good spiccato on, so I`m happy. :D
