i recently got an electric violin here.

After learning how to rosin/ set the violin up, i realised that when i bowed, the strings wheren't making any sound, at all. so i re-rosined(scratched it a bit so it would stick to the bow, like i was told), re tuned stuff, made sure that the bow was tightened correctly, made sure every thing was correct, but it still didnt work .

So I got new strings because the ones the violin came with where horrible anyways, and i thought that it would be the problem, but the same thing kept happening, no sound was being produced(exept when i used very top of the bow

what else could make this happen? the rosin or bridge? i'm learning how to play the violin anyways(i'm able to play fur elise slowly ), but its kind of frustraighting to not be able to here the notes :p

also, i need to find a nice shoulder rest, that wont get in the way of the amplifier input, and the headphone jack input(i'll get a picture soon)

i know i'm new here, and my grammar/spelling might not be perfect, but thanks for the help

Obvious questions are:
Have you switched it on?
Have you plugged it into an amplifier?
Have you switched the amplifier on?
Have you plugged the amplifier into speakers?
Have you turned the volume up?
Have you tried asking the shop where you bought it?
Without knowing your specific instrument, it is hard to be able to help further.
If they are pickups like an electric guitar then you would need steel strings, but the shop should have told you that.
The other possibility is that it could be broken with a capital F
