SAS just informed me in writing that small stringed instruments such as violins, fiddles, mandolins, etc are now banned as carry-on items on their planes.

Their exact words were "A violin (with normal measurements)will not fit within the maximum measurments thus not possible to bring it on board."

Each instrument must be checked (and very possibly smashed) for an additional fee of $60 USD.

Just FYI to violinists who expect to bring instruments on board as they always have been in the past- Avoid SAS.
