Hi...Im new here...juz start learning violin...need some advice..when playing my violin...my elbow keeps moving around...the bow will crossover to the other strings..that makes me very frustating...especially the A n D strings..Have been practicing for 3mths n my elbow still moving around...how do i stop my elbow moving around?...

Hello,

It will take some time for your arms to move right on the strings. My tip is to follow the excercise in the link below to get a steady bow.

Sadly, there's no easy way, but to practice. Don't beat your self up about it when practicing. The D and A strings will be harder because there is a smaller margin of error. Also if you have a, shall we say, budget instrument then it is quite possible that the bridge is not correctly shaped. I have seen an instrument where the D, A and E strings were all in a line. Maybe get your teacher to take a quick look. I know bad workmen blame their tools, but a beginner may well not be able to tell the difference.
