I`m playing a concerto. I need strings with huge sound that will carry all the way to the back row. It would sound pretty funny if the orchestra overpowered me.

I`m not sure if there is such a string...don`t you just have to play normally and the orchestra balances itself so the audience can hear you? I`ve accompanied concertos like the Tchaikovsky violin concerto and the violinist didn`t have special strings. It`s a case of working with the orchestra to get the right balance, and it also depends on the place you are playing in, on the acoustics of it. I may be wrong, there could well be special strings, but I haven`t heard of any.

What violin are u using actually? Is the carrying power weak? Or u wanna swoop instrument with yr friends? Caz this is what I did once during a full fledged concert. The orchestra was indeed quite overpowering, and I decided to use my colleuge`s instru. But I can tell u from my bad ex, dun change instru. the last minute. Caz u need time to get used to it. So the same thing goes for the Dominant and Liebenzeller.Dun switch em the last minute, u need time to get used to it.

OK...I did the Gold II + Dominant thing. It sounds good, different. But it`s not more powerful...no, not really. There are about 30 violins in the orchestra. Lots of them smother their bows with who knows what. This makes me sound like a little girl compared to a foghorn.

Ask the guy at SuperSensitive string company (www.supersensitive.com). His name is John Cavanaugh and he`s very nice. When I was looking for a special string for my eleven stringed electric bowed instrument he custom made a string for me. He`s an expert. He`ll know how to help you.

I`ve all ready played the concerto, but just recently I found a string that I liked.
It`s Eudoxa. It`s really powerful, but not like an amped guitar. I can play sppppp, sffff, sppppp, etc. with ease. It blends nicely with a goldsteel Obligato E. The thing I don`t like very much about it is its long break-in period and sensitivity to temperature and humidity. I`d be playing for about 10 minutes and I`d have to retune.
