My ability to navigate round this message board being on a par with my playing, I originally posted this on the wrong forum so, I`ll try again.

As a 54 year old just beginning to play, I am somewhat embarrassed at the pride I feel in being able to start playing a tune.

It`s modern music (well actually it`s Sally Garden but, I am finding notes that even Stockhausen couldn`t imagine) so, following John Cage`s Music for a Prepared Piano, I am calling it Music for an Unprepared Violinist.

But, it is getting better so, move over Kyung Wha Chung, I`m on my way!!

Now, my teacher has given me a tune to start learning and my music reading isn`t too good. On my old Spectrum, I could input the notes (a somewhat complicated system) and get out a melody for later reference. Does anyone know of a similar system for a PC?

(I have received a reply on this so, I pass it on for anyone else.
