I have been experiencing slight hearing loss in my left ear from playing violin. I just had a hearing test from a clinic in Toronto and the tests revealed that my left ear have trouble with low notes. The audiologist there said that it might be because of exposure to loud sound. I play viola and sit right in the firing line of the brass section, which can peak at 140 dB in some pieces thinking that my ears are safe. But now it has led to many hearing problems. The hearing audiologist in Toronto has asked me to get custom made musician's earplugs to protect my ears from further damage or hearing loss. Has anyone here lost your hearing because of playing violin at high frequency? Please share.
