changing strings

I was changing my strings the other day when i found i had a loop e string for once. The E string fine tuner on my violin is shaped kinda like a 2 prong fork which i have been told can be used for both loop e and ball e strings. My question is which prong do i put the loop around or do I put it around both. Also i`ve noticed that my A string is kinda pushed to the side by or directly ontop of my e string. This is kinda a problem because my A string seems to tune funny and when/if it slips it takes the E string with it. If the E string slips the A string becomes flat. Is there another way of winding up the strings other than from the hole where the string is inserted to the side.

A certain string is supposed to fit into a certain peg only . If u dun wind them in the correct order, they will start to go on top of one another. And will make its neighbouring atrings flat or sharp. Have u winded them in the respective pegs?

Bottom left peg G top left D top right A bottom right E. String goes over the top of the peg - wind tightly and neatly or the strings may interfere with each other.

Put the loop round both prongs.

Change the strings one at a time or in pairs, don`t take all 4 off at onec unless you have to because the bridge will obviously move, but less obviously the soundpost might fall over.

The strings will stretch in for a few days, so you`ll be retuning frequently. Be sure the strings are resting properly in the notches in the nut and bridge. It`s a good idea to lubricate the nut slots with a bit of graphite (pencil lead will do) to allow the string to slide cleanly.

I am aware of which strings go to which pegs, lol, but even though they are wound very tightly around the peg the e string still pushes the a aside. Perhaps i should have them replace the a string peg with one that has a hole a little more set to the left. What if the loop doesn`t fit around the 2 prongs? Thanks for your help so far guys

You want the E string winding as far to the right as possible. If it`s still a problem then i guess you have a peg problem.

Loop strings are for single prong adjusters. It should work OK just going over one prong though.

No string should touch any other string.

Fine tuners for looped string have one (1) prong.
