Up-bow from the tip

I`ve been playing for a while now and I`m getting quite good, but I have a question on bowing.

I can down-bow fine without the bow `wobbling` on the string, but when a piece starts with an up-bow I usually start from the middle of the bow. Is this correct? I`ve tried to start from the tip but unless I rest the bow on the string first it bounces like crazy!

Thanks everyone

thats odd.. the tip of the bow should be the easiest part for You to play with... try maybe to lighten the pressure of the bow or maybe it`s becouse of Youre wrist moving sideways. try to play it slowly at first and the SLOWLY speed up the movement. also [as far as i know] the tip of the bow is generally always placed on string, so you shouldn`t even lift it up. the part at the frog is meant to play stacatto and other stuff like that. the tip of the bow is [i think] one of the most sensitive parts of the bow [the most delicate one atleast] so it cannot bounce around
