This is weird. I`m Jen, 14, and starting this summer as well. I don`t think anyone is too old to start and be genius at it.

this is my opinion about learning stuff. IF you dont` have mental problems then i should be 98% correct. when you young, your learning ability is high but your attention span low. when you older it`s harder for you to learn but you have a high attention span. and when your old enough to go to the retirement house, then everything is low for you. so yeah. i`m twelve and i`m in advanced orchestra and i started 1 year and 1-3 months ago. at the biggining it was easy cuz all you had to do was put a finger down on a place on the string. then there were all these complicated as hell things. there was trilling, and...hard ass to play slurs... and a bunch of stuff. it`s even harder in the book called wolfhart. but you no need to worry. you should be juuuust fine.

Definitely not! It`s never too late to learn any type of music! As long as you have a will and an interest in it, go for it!

I agree with all the rest. I`m 32 and began violin a month ago and I know of someone who started learning at 42!

You`re definitely not too old. I`m fifteen going on sixteen in May and I started the second to last week in March. If you are motivated and keep with it, you can learn. I know of a guy who started at the same age at my school, and now he`s almost 18 and he`s so very good...you should hear him play...especially Canon in D *swoons*

Never too old. I know people who have started learning in their 50s, 60s and 70s, and enjoy every minute of their playing and practising.
What older beginners lack in learning ability they replace with determination and dedication to the task.
No matter what age you start, you can (only) become as good as you are prepared to work towards.

Youre not too old. especially since you already haver a very solid foundation in music. You no doubt can read music well and understand all that theory stuff. You should have no problem learning violin.
Good luck!
