I have been playing the violin since I was nine and I am seventeen now. I have just had the "familiar click" some people have and am getting into the violin a lot. I am purchasing a $1,500 violin, new sheet music; the works. However, I don`t have a teacher or the time for one right now. Maybe next year, but I want to get started now. Are there any Web sites where I can just read lessons or something?

I need to know how to improve in all of the types of vibrato, left hand pizzicato, and anything else I should know. I would hardly ever practice, but just a few weeks ago, I started practicing six or seen hours a day.

That`s a lot of practice time. If you`ve already learned the basics you`re playing more than enough to improve.

But I`m sorry to say...you need a teacher. I`m 42 and have returned to playing the violin (played from age 10-14). I used to have group instruction, but now, since October I`ve been going for one-one private lessons. I have learned SO much! There`s is NO way I could have picked up the technique I need to learn from reading. I need someone to show me and I imagine most people do.

If you can`t afford weekly lessons now, have one every two weeks. Even an hour long monthly lesson would be better than muddling on your own.

We tend to repeat and perfect what we know and what we find easy. Therefore we also need a teacher to make us learn the things we find hard or tend to overlook.
