Hi! I just turned 10 too. I haven`t played in a concert yet. I think that would be fun. I am playing in my teacher`s recital in June. That will be fun too.

My teacher said that if you know your piece really really well it won`t matter so much when your nervous because your auto-pilot takes over and you play your notes right.

I hope that helps.

hmmm...i haven`t heard of the banana method....

just so you know, i play in an orchestra and have preformed a fair few times. Once you get out there, you`re home free. you know exactly what you`re supposed to do, and you do it. nervousness is a good sign, don`t worry. it means you`re paying attention
as long as you go out there knowing what you have to do and what you have to play, you`re fine, and once its over its all just a memory and you can laugh at yourself later. and trust me, that is a good method.

I have been in about 10 concerts. You have to practice a lot, especially before a concert and pay attention to the teacher. Plus before to concert you have dress rehersals. Don`t worry and go luck Mikey.

Rachel

Hope u sign up!

the best thing about learning an instrument is getting to perform infront an audience.

i too was scared at first, but as i performed more, i got confidence.

Well, I`ve just turned 11 and I am meant to go to this music camp thingymabob in East Dumbartonshire (Glasgow, Bearsden, UK) I am going the 1st time and I`m meant to study some music and at the end of it, I am meant to do a concert in front of an estimated 800-2000 people. Last year, (I didn`t go, a friend did), it reached 1832. It was a giant orchestra of like, 150 people. And it was in the local paper, taking the format of the front page.

The thing is beggining on the 20th and a performance on the 27th. We are staying in, like, dormitories, so I`m looking forwad to it, but what about the concert? Our Easter service had just been a nightmare (Ok, some exagerration) with our much smaller school orcestra (that time performiing for 500 people), and it was because everyone was nervous that it wasn`t as good as in rehearsals. I WANT THIS TO BE OUR BEST! But how can we perform without stage-fright?

Sorry for writing stuff that long!

Hey! I play violin and I`m 15! I used to be extremely nervous all the time! Sweaty hands, dizziness, butterflies in my stomach, blushing, I had it all! The great thing about playing the violin is that violins play in an orchestra. Try and find a junior orchestra and it`ll help you! Bye!

Its not to bad! Playing with other ppl in your level is a good way of starting out, but my favourite was always solo concerts. My advice is to pick a song u know really well so u dont hav to think about it and u can just get into it.

hi
i`m 13 yrs old and I have only played in a few concerts because I am exactly like you micheal. I get ssoo nervous. I have played in 3 competitions and i felt like i was going to pee my pants! bt I can tell you this. It gets better. One of my friends was a nrevous wreck before any type of concert, but now he is winning heaps of things. To over-come his fear, he played infront of family and friends and then moved onto competitions. I still get nervous before anything to do with playing the violin in public but what you have to remember is that the audience might like you, they might not, but who cares what they think because its how you feel that counts. Once you have played the violin for a long period of time and gone to as much competitions as my friend you will look at a concert as being a practice in your music room ( or wherever you practice your violin) as you grow with your violin you will trust yourself and it better, so you will be able to play infront of anyone. Basically, I am trying to tell you micheal that no matter how nervous you are now, it will get better as long as you practice and believe in yourself.
