Whenever I play for my relatives they want to hear fiddle music, particualarly this piece. I mostly just play classical music, but with all the requests I`ve gotten for this I do want to learn it, does anyone know where I can get the music for it if it is available?

i some how find this to be impossible for you to do this since the man who plays the song had his violin OUT OF TUNE so you cant play it by ear.....ITS IS 100% impossible to play a song by ear when your listening to an OUT OF TUNE instrument being FIDDLED....unless of course in your in LALALAND WERE MIRACLES OF THE IMPOSSIBLE ALWAYS HAPPEN!

if you can hear that his violin is out of tune, then it IS possible to year how much out of tune it is...even if you end up putting the song in a different key, it`s still the same song. As you proubebly know (or don`t know from the sound of how umbelevably arrogant you are) you can play any piece you want in any key you want, as long as the notes are the same intervals apart. this means that you can`t play with the recording but it doesn`t stop you from playing it up to spead...most of the violin part is improv anyway so you don`t have to play exactly how it is on the recording...I play with my band, in what ever key we want so don`t you dare even TRY to tell me i cant just because in your world, or LALALAND WHERE THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPENS as you like to call it, you can`t play anything unless it is written down on paper and spelled out for you. and for future reference, don`t use percentages unless you`re really sure that no one will be able to prove you wrong cause right now, you sound like a concieted jerk who doesn`t know a violin from a piccolo. next time, be smart (i know that could prove to be difficult for you) and don`t talk about things you have no clue about
Sincerly, fanatic_fiddler

ps-i`m sorry i used so many big words, next time i write, i`ll try to lower my vocabulary down to your level so you don`t look so sophomoric in front of your friends

The violin wasn`t out of tune. In the days of recording to tape discrepancies often occurred in the speed that the tape went round. This could also be done on purpose for various effects. I still can`t find the sheet music and it`s driving me nuts! Help!

But where`s the actual melody? I can find the words all over the place but never any recording of anyone singing it.
