I started the violin recently, and my new teacher refuses to let me use tapes/labels on my fingerboard...and i`m wondering how i can help improve the intonation of my playing.

you have to let your ear guide your fingers or try these exersises play the note e on the d sring with an open a string [double stopping] and listen the a sring will let you know if the e note is in tune this works with f sharp and a and so on for octaves try d 3rd finger [a string] if you are not sure check the note against the open d. hope this helps jamie

Hahaha, ill still use masking tape! u need to learn to use your ears, if you can just start out using tape for the first position and DONT LOOK! just get use to the sound and practise.
