$15 half hour, very good price in Canada. Expect to pay more. Most teachers have a waiting list for students. That means people are waiting who NEEEEEED a teacher! Strat Man Dwight

i have been playing the violin for 6 years, and i have had a lot of teachers. the most i have paid is $75 per hour. she was a really good teacher though. my friend pays $100 per hour. so it really depends. for a beginning violinist, you could get a much cheaper teacher, maybe $20 to $30. good luck on violin. it gets to be really fun, but you need to practice a lot.

Hi Jess,
wow...where are you all living?!? One hour (45min.) in Slovakia costs about 1,5 Euro in state music school and when you want to take private lesson itīs from 4 to 100 Euro. I was shocked by the prices in other states...it`s a big fault of your country if you can`t see the musical talent is a gift from God and not everybody has money to paid so many money. In Slovakia we have a system to help the young talented musicians - the state paid 80% from the price at state schools. That`s the reason why we have so big number of virtuoso players with success arround the Europe. I also play and teach.

to tanya...
you`d probably be a full size. it depends on how long your arms are. yeah- you could maybe teach yourself... it would help to at least know someone who plays so they could tell you if you`re doing something drastically wrong!

It varies, don`t overpay.
If you are a beginner, you do not need to pay $50 an hour to study with the best teacher in your area.
